There are 20 standards that ALL S.E.G.R.A. members should abide by.
***Be Professional at all times during interviews, investigations, and reveals***
1) Avoid taking pictures in snow, rain, fog, or wind. Adverse weather conditions can and usually will cause false anomalies in photographs.
2) NEVER smoke while on investigations, and avoid taking pictures near smoke or flames.
3) Hold your breath while taking photos on cold nights.
4) Tie long hair back so that it doesn’t obstruct the camera lens.
5) KNOW where your camera strap is AT ALL TIMES.
6) Avoid taking pictures of extremely dusty areas.
7) Stay off private property unless you have WRITTEN permission.
8) NEVER under any circumstances investigate alone, especially in secluded areas.
9) Make sure camera lens is clean, a smudge or fingerprint can cause a false anomalies.
10) Know where your fingers are and keep them away from camera lens.
11) Avoid taking pictures at or around shiny objects if possible.
12) If you have a camera with night setting then make sure that you are using that setting inside of dark buildings or in the evenings outside.
13) Avoid taking pictures of bright lights or the sun this may cause lens flair.
14) NEVER horseplay during an investigation.
15) NEVER dare spirits to attack you, you may get your wish and they are not always friendly during these situations. Although provoking has been proven to work quite well, but use this as a last resort.
16) Promote positive energy while on investigations. Negative energy may attract some pretty nasty spirits and they will feed off the negativity. Whereas positive energy will normally attract more docile spirits.
17) Let the spirits know why are there, and what you are doing. Invite them to have their picture taken.
18) Be objective about things you encounter. Try to find rational explanations for things before you jump to conclusions about things being paranormal. Try to de-bunk the happing first.
19) Keep communication tools in case of an emergency.
20) NEVER bring or be under the influence of alcohol or any other mind controlling or altering substance during or before an investigation. This act will lead to IMMEDIATE removal from the investigation team.
This is less extensive list but it is still important to our organization.
1) Never under any circumstances tease or threaten a spirit.
2) Always pay attention to your dreams after an investigation. Entities will use this relaxed state of mind to torment a targeted victim. If they seem abnormal use your spiritual preference to get the spirit to cease its actions.
3) You can use a spiritual relic or symbol for protection. This idea will only work if you truly believe in the power that it holds, and the symbol will vary according to religious beliefs.
4) Always trust your instincts and intuition.
5) Check out and understand the different aspects of the supernatural.
6) Understand demonic possession. This is extremely rare, but be aware of it, read up on it, and try to understand what you could do rid yourself of it if need be.
7) Get as much evidence as you possible. This is the key for proof so the more we gather the better.
8) Always expect a good result.
IT IS OKAY TO BE AFRAID. If something freaks you out or scares you then slowly walk away from the area and inform your senior investigator about what happened, and if you feel comfortable to do so go back with them to investigate the happening further.
Codes of conduct and protocols are instilled for a reason, and are mainly there for safety and professionalism. As an organization protocols and conduct codes are a must. S.E.G.R.A. firmly instills and believes in its protocols and will not tolerate breaking of them. Any broken protocol will result in a reprimand and depending on severity of the incident will reflect the severity of the reprimand, which can range from a verbal warning to immediate removal from the organization.
Lead Investigators are in charge while in the field and will be respected and listened to. They should not have to repeat themselves several times when someone is told to do something, and repeatedly disobeying the person in charge will lead to a reprimand.
I will give all reprimands personally directly after the incident if I am available. This is how our reprimand system works:
Verbal Warning- This is given for minor offenses that we believe can be either corrected by explaining how and why things are not done that way, or we think they do not merit further action.
Written Warning- These will be given for moderate or repeat offenses to make you aware that if you continue repeating these actions that further action will be taken. The offense that took place will be referenced on the written warning, and will be given as soon as possible after the investigation that the incident took place. The ranges of corrective action on a written warning can range from just a warning, suspension for a number of investigations, and/or removal from the organization.
Suspension- A suspension will be given for any act deemed to be “unprofessional”, unsafe, or repeated offenses for the same act after a written warning. Safety is ALWAYS a first during investigations, and the length of the suspensions will depend on the violation made, and the amount of times this problem has occurred. Suspensions can vary from 1 investigation, to indefinitely.
Removal- This reprimand will happen IMMEDIATELY following something that would fall under an extremely unsafe act or anything that would fall under our zero tolerance policy.
The protocol and standards we have instilled in the organization are there for a reason, not only for safety but to keep our organization professional, and they are to be followed at all times during an investigation.
